In the Kirovsky district of Krasnoyarsk, they are preparing for a large-scale renovation of Zapadny Square. The administration spoke about this.
The space near the 50th Anniversary of Victory Square will be renovated taking into account the wishes of residents – 120 thousand people voted for the project in 2025. Work will begin in the second quarter of 2026, the contractor has already been identified.
The concept will preserve the memorial significance of the place – all monuments will remain in their places, and military equipment will be moved to a separate area. This will expand the space for traditional district events that annually attract thousands of citizens.
The square will be divided into three zones: a central square and two alleys – towards Krasnoyarsky Rabochiy Avenue and Academician Vavilov Street. Benches, chairs and swings under awnings will be installed in the quiet area. The landscaping will be put in order and supplemented with new trees and shrubs. For example, there will be a separate lilac garden and a memory garden with fruit apple trees.
Two types of surfaces were provided for walking: paving stones on transit routes and a soft printed surface made of granite screenings. The space will be made accessible to citizens with limited mobility, modern lighting, video surveillance and navigation will be installed.
