The head of government, Donald Tusk, said on Sunday that Polexit is a real threat today. He added that both confederations and the majority of PiS want Polexit, and President Karol Nawrocki is their patron. He stressed that he would do everything to stop them.

“Polexit is a real threat today! Both confederations and the majority of PiS want it. Nawrocki is their patron. Russia, the American MAGA and the European right, led by Orban, want to destroy the EU. It would be a disaster for Poland. I will do everything to stop them,” the Prime Minister wrote on Sunday on the X platform.
The Prime Minister spoke in a similar tone on Friday in an interview for TVP Info. When asked in the context of the presidential veto of the SAFE Act whether such a policy would not result in an exit from the European Union in the future, he replied that “those who say that this is a prelude to Polexit, to Poland's exit from the European Union, are unfortunately more and more right.” Tusk also said that the veto was the termination of the “grand agreement” in which everyone understood that Poland must be in NATO and the EU.
Wojciech Balczun, the Minister of State Assets, reacted to the Prime Minister's entry.
“The only safe haven for Poland is the EU. Everything else is mirages and illusions. Many times in history we have paid the highest price for them. This will not be the case this time,” he noted on the X website.
Maciej Wróbel, deputy minister of culture, also commented on the matter on Sunday. “Mr. President, I have a feeling that this is just the beginning. Citizens do not agree with the veto regarding the common security of all Poles! The #We want to be safe protest is underway in front of the Presidential Palace. There are many, many of us,” we read in the entry posted by Wróbel on the X website.
The Deputy Minister of Culture referred in this way to the demonstration under the slogan “We want to be SAFE!” which is taking place in front of the Presidential Palace. According to the organizers, the meeting is a response to the recent decisions of President Karol Nawrocki, primarily to veto the government bill implementing the EU SAFE mechanism. This is a defense financing instrument worth EUR 150 billion. The largest beneficiary of the program was to be Poland, which could receive EUR 43.7 billion from it. According to the government's declaration, 89 percent these funds would go to Polish arms companies. (PAP)
