“I declare war on all fronts.” The mayor of the capital wants drastic measures against illegal street displays. Ciucu's call to artists

The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announces that he has asked the Local Police to take measures against companies and individuals who vandalize Bucharest by illegally pasting posters with artists. The mayor also appeals to artists to stop accepting being promoted through illegal display.

The phenomenon is “generalized” and is “shameful” for the capital of Romania, wrote Ciprian Ciucu, on Saturday, on his Facebook page.

“Along with graffiti (actually tagging), the illegal display of posters is a horrible disease that serves Bucharest and that no one has treated! I have ordered the local police to identify all the companies that, in an organized manner, vandalize the city and to file criminal complaints against the owners and administrators of these companies”, announces Ciucu.

He mentions that he ordered the institutions that have poles (STB, lighting, streets) to take legal action against the companies that “parasitize” the public space, in order to recover all the cleaning costs. “It's more expensive to clean a poster than to stick it”, emphasizes mayor Ciprian Ciucu, according to Agerpres.

“Artists should not accept promotion through illegal display”

“The judges who judge such cases of vandalism are part of the problem. More than 99% of the cases of vandalism are resolved with nothing. For them it is not a problem that the city looks the way it does and that it will cost us tens of millions to clean our buildings of graffiti”, adds the mayor.

Ciucu also attaches images of a street technical office, which was covered with posters, a day after it had been cleaned.

“In Sector 6, having a reformed and functional Local Police, we managed to eliminate this display. I declare war on all fronts of these parasite companies. And the artists who allow themselves to be promoted in this uncivilized way, through vandalism, should feel a sense of embarrassment”, he adds.

What fines risk those who illegally put up posters

On March 6, the Local Police of the Capital reiterated the fact that people who illegally paste posters in the central area risk fines. At the time, a man was caught on video cameras pasting posters on the traffic light box at the intersection of Splaiul Independţei and Bd. Schitu Măgureanu.

“In addition to the 3,000 lei fine, they also confiscated his 120 posters. In addition, they ordered to remove what he had pasted and to restore the area he vandalized to its original state. We are constantly monitoring these vandalism phenomena”, informs the Local Police on its Facebook page.
