Zelenski met with Reza Pahlavi, son of the last shah. “Ukraine wants a free Iran that does not cooperate with Russia”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met in Paris with Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah of Iran, whom he assured that Ukraine wants “a free Iran that does not cooperate with Russia”, informs AFP.

Been at war for four years with Russia, which has benefited from Iranian military support. “Ukraine really wants a free Iran that does not cooperate with Russia and that does not destabilize the Middle East, Europe and the world,” the Ukrainian president wrote in a post on X.

For Zelenski, “it is crucial that the Iranian regime does not gain any advantage” from the conflict in the Middle East and that the Iranian people decide their own future.

Reza Pahlavi, who lives in exile in the United States, presents himself as an alternative to the current leadership of Iran, should the theocratic regime collapse

“I am grateful to the crown prince for his clear assurances of support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Our teams will remain in contact,” Zelenskiy added.

Iran supplied Russia with long-range Shahed drones, used by the thousands by Moscow to strike Ukrainian infrastructure and then produced by Russia under the name Gheran-2.

Kiev is concerned that the war in the Middle East could divert international attention from the conflict in Ukraine, particularly the acute need for anti-aircraft missiles, which are used in large numbers in the Persian Gulf to counter Iranian missiles and drones and which Ukraine needs against Russia.
