Billions of invoices in KSeF. The next stage of the revolution will begin in April

Over 256,000 entities issued nearly 61.5 million invoices in the National e-Invoice System – Zbigniew Stawicki, deputy minister of finance and deputy head of the National Tax Administration, announced on Thursday. He added that most entities issue invoices in the system, although they are not obliged to do so.

– As of today, we have (…) – this is data from 10 a.m. today – nearly 61.5 million invoices in the system. This is several times more than during the entire period (…) of the optional system's operation. Over 256,000 entities have issued invoices in the system, of which over 5,000 are entities from the population covered by the obligation from February 1, which means that these entities must issue them – Stawicki told the Senate on Thursday.

He emphasized that the vast majority, 250,000. entities issuing invoices in KSeF do so voluntarily. He added that this means that nearly 10 percent of the entities that will be obliged to issue invoices from April 1, already issues invoices to KSeF, although there is no such obligation yet.

In the first stage of the system's operation, the obligation to issue invoices via KSeF covered the largest companies whose revenues in 2024 exceeded PLN 200 million. Only in the next stage – which will start on April 1 this year. – other entrepreneurs, including micro-entrepreneurs, are to be covered by the system. For companies that issue invoices to other companies with a value below PLN 10,000. PLN per month KSeF will become mandatory from the beginning of next year. In 2026, there will be no penalties for incorrect use of KSeF.

Stawicki also informed that the Ministry of Finance has issued nearly 1.2 million certificates to entrepreneurs in KSeF so far, and nearly half of the entities ultimately covered by KSeF have already been activated in the system.

The National e-Invoice System is a nationwide ICT platform used to issue, receive and store structured invoices in electronic form. This system is intended to tighten the tax system and standardize the circulation of financial documents between entrepreneurs and the tax administration. (PAP)
