A service for translating voice communications into text has been launched for Krasnoyarsk residents with hearing impairments

13 March 15:11

The MTS digital ecosystem introduced a new service, “Secretary for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing,” which allows people with hearing problems to independently use telephone communications. The technology is available free of charge to all subscribers in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

When there is an incoming call, the voice assistant warns the interlocutor that the called party is hard of hearing. The user can reject the call by going to the conversational chat. In this mode, artificial intelligence translates the caller's speech into text in real time, which is displayed on the screen. The answers typed by the user in the chat are voiced in a synthesized voice. For quick answers, you can use ready-made template phrases or enter any text.

“Digital inclusion is becoming the new standard. We see this in the technologies of speech recognition, induction systems and high-quality content with subtitles that are actively being introduced into the everyday life of hearing-impaired people. We hope that our service will improve the quality of life of people with hearing impairment,” said Sergey Yegoshin, director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

According to the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, in 2025 there were more than 13 million people in Russia with hearing loss. “Secretary for the deaf and hard of hearing” works directly on the mobile network and uses speech recognition and synthesis technologies based on MTS artificial intelligence.
