Actor Vasily Livanov was taken out of a medically induced coma for an indefinite period. His condition is assessed as average.
He is still connected to a ventilator, and doctors have started giving him a strong antibiotic, as there is a risk of getting a hospital-acquired infection. The People's Artist of the RSFSR has a confused consciousness. Doctors believe that his brain could have been damaged due to impaired blood supply, lack of oxygen and nutrients in the neurons – a serious stage of dyscirculatory encephalopathy is in question.
Livanov was put into a medically induced coma on October 10. Experts hoped that this would help the actor’s body recover and avoid cerebral edema. Vasily Borisovich has been in the neuroreanimation unit since September 29. He was hospitalized with a stroke; before that, the man complained of weakness in the body and legs, shortness of breath, speech impairment and periodic pain.
