The second-hand service at the bank is most often used by people over 60 years old – about 70% of them. This data is provided by VTB Bank. The service will allow you to protect your loved ones from transferring money to scammers or withdrawing cash under pressure.
The bank notes that the mechanism was mainly in demand among women – their share among those protected was 65%. 69% of such clients have accounts up to 2 million rubles, 26% – from 2.5 million rubles and 2% – from 15 million rubles.
To confirm large banking transactions, they involve trusted loved ones. Trustees are also mostly women (55%), with 28% in the 40-50 age group. Young people (20-25 years old) are least interested in establishing control over their operations on the part of family and friends – only 3%.
The “second hand” mechanism provides for the client to appoint a trusted person to confirm large transactions. This can be done in the bank's online application by selecting from its clients. When setting up the service, you will need to specify the amount, if exceeded, confirmation of the transfer or withdrawal of cash from a loved one will be required. You can assign a new defender or cancel the service at any time; if you disconnect, there will be a cooling-off period of 24 hours.
“The “second-hand” mechanism helps protect clients’ money from fraudsters. “We are planning to expand it soon by adding new types of operations,” said Alexey Kurzyakov, head of VTB’s digital business department.
