The victims went fishing, but their car got stuck in a snowdrift. Attempts to get out on their own were unsuccessful and the men had to spend the night in the forest, warming themselves in a car, while the temperature dropped to -30 °C. In the morning they decided to go to a busy highway in search of help.
In the area of 86 km of the R-257 Yenisei highway, the men saw a patrol crew consisting of senior police lieutenant Maxim Solodkin and police lieutenant Denis Gurchenko and turned to them. Employees of the traffic police regiment immediately responded to the request. Inspectors moved deeper into the forest for more than an hour to get to the stuck car. Arriving at the scene, they successfully towed the vehicle and ensured it reached the highway safely.
