According to VTB, the average balance in family accounts for joint spending by Russians is 20 thousand rubles.

Bank experts note that this reflects the current market trend: most Russians leave the necessary amount in their accounts for current expenses, and store available funds on deposits.

The trend towards savings is also confirmed by statistics on customer cards: in 2025, the average balance on them was 52 thousand rubles. VTB associates this indicator with growing interest in deposits and savings accounts.

Last year, more than 50 thousand accounts for joint spending were opened at VTB Family Bank – this product became one of the most popular among service users.

“A conscious attitude towards money is becoming a sustainable trend. More and more people prefer not to spend impulsively, but to save money to spend it on truly important goals. This can also be seen in the way families manage their money: they often keep amounts for everyday expenses on joint accounts and cards, and place large savings on deposits,” said Alexey Okhorzin, Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Business Products Department at VTB.

In 2025, family banking at VTB was used by more than 7 million people, who formed groups to jointly resolve financial issues. Most often, clients form groups with friends, distant relatives and loved ones – such groups make up about 60%. Relationships with spouses take up more than 20%, with parents or children – more than 15%, with brothers or sisters – just under 5%. Every fourth participant in the program is a client aged 35-45 years, every fifth is 45-55 years old. A third of the total audience consists of clients over 55 years old, another 13% are from 25 to 35 years old.
