In Krasnoyarsk, police, thanks to the vigilance and concern of a city resident, prevented the theft of 400 thousand rubles from a 79-year-old woman who was convinced by telephone scammers to transfer money to a “safe account.”
IN A woman from Krasnoyarsk called the duty department and reported that in one of the supermarkets she noticed a pensioner who had been standing at the ATM for a long time, was nervous and was continuously talking to someone on the phone. The nearest PPS crew immediately arrived at the specified address. The employees caught the elderly woman just as she was about to complete the transaction.
“It took a lot of effort for the police to convince her to interrupt the conversation and go to the police station. The pensioner was under severe psychological pressure and completely trusted the voice at the other end of the phone. Later it was established that imaginary law enforcement officers contacted the woman and convinced her that she was participating in a “secret operation to expose criminals.” The victim was given the task to withdraw all savings and transfer them to a “safe account.” Believing the scammers, the woman withdrew 400 thousand rubles from the bank and went to the ATM in the store,” said the Krasnoyarskoye Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In the presence of the pensioner’s closest relative, the head of police department No. 2, Alexey Stepanov, returned her savings.
