The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, will receive the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who is on an official visit to Romania, on Thursday at the Cotroceni Palace. According to the Presidential Administration of Romania, the agenda of the discussions will include topics aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two states, in a direction “comprehensive, constructive and forward-looking”.

The high-level bilateral consultations will take place in the context of the recent four-year anniversary on February 24 of Russia's launch of the war of aggression against Ukraine. Romania has offered multidimensional support to Ukraine since the first days of the war and continues to contribute to international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, accompanied by solid security guarantees for Kiev, the quoted source says.

During the meeting, the two leaders will discuss the development of political dialogue and the intensification of economic cooperation, as well as collaboration in areas such as energy and defense industries. Also, topics related to the development of connectivity and cross-border initiatives, as well as the role of Romania in the process of reconstruction of Ukraine, will be addressed.

At the same time, Nicușor Dan and Volodimir Zelenski will have an exchange of views on topical issues, including the European Union enlargement process, the transatlantic relationship, the security situation in the Black Sea region and recent developments at the regional and global level.

The President of Romania will also discuss the need to advance the bilateral dialogue regarding the respect of the rights of people belonging to the Romanian minority in Ukraine, including the right to education in the mother tongue.
