The US announces the destruction of 16 Iranian minelaying ships. Donald Trump: “Others will follow!”

US forces destroyed 16 Iranian ships used to lay mines near the Strait of Hormuz after President Donald Trump warned Iran that any mining action would have “unprecedented military consequences”.
The United States military announced Tuesday, March 10, that US forces destroyed 16 Iranian minelaying vessels in the area of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategic sea routes for the world's transportation of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
“US forces took out several Iranian warships on March 10, including 16 minelaying vessels near the Strait of Hormuz”, transmitted the US military on platform X, confirming operations in the region.
Earlier, President Donald Trump had announced that several vessels had already been destroyed and emphasized the effectiveness of the mission.
“The US military has struck and completely destroyed 10 inactive minelaying boats and/or vessels, with more to follow!”, wrote Donald Trump on Truth Social.
At the same time, the US president warned Iran that any attempt to mine the Strait of Hormuz would attract severe military measures. “If, for any reason, mines are planted and they are not immediately removed, the military consequences for Iran will be unprecedented.” he warned. “If they are removed instead, that will be a huge step in the right direction!” Trump added.
