The live scandal caused by a guest results in a fine for Romania TV and a ban: “He will no longer be invited”
A show last month in which one of the regular guests of the Romania TV station verbally unleashed on two politicians was left with a fine from CNA for the TV station, PaginadeMedia writes.
Romania TV was fined 5,000 lei for a show in February in which former radio sports commentator Dumitru Pelican violently attacked the USR, about which he said “Bye, you little bastards! Shoot yourselves because the Romanians will eat you!”.
It was not the only verbal violence Pelican resorted to. He said to a representative of the PNL “Come on, go to bed, you liar!” or “Aren't you ashamed, you illiterate? You haven't even learned Romanian!”
The moderator of the show, Simona Gheorghe, intervened several times to stop him, but CNA considered that it was not enough.
“The show was 42 minutes long and I was curious to see how many times I intervened in that show and in what way I intervened. Out of the 56 interventions in which I draw the attention of my guests, 42 interventions are related to what Mr. Pelican did in the show. Under these conditions, if you report the number of interventions to the minutes of the show, there are several of my interventions per minute,” said the producer in front of CNA.
She stated that Pelican has not been invited to Romania TV since then and that he will not be invited again in the next period.
“I have made the decision that for the moment he will no longer be invited in Romania TV shows. At least in my show he will no longer be invited”, said Simona Gheorghe.
