Donald Trump on Wednesday again threatened Spain with cutting off trade exchange. The US president stated, contrary to his spokeswoman's earlier statements, that Spain “does not cooperate” with the US in the war against Iran.

– I don't think they cooperate at all, Spain (…). “I don't know what Spain is doing, they've been very bad towards NATO,” Trump said, answering a question from a Spanish correspondent while talking to reporters before flying to Kentucky. – We can end all trade with Spain. All trade, he added.
The US president thus returned to the threat he made for the first time last Tuesday during his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. He then announced that he would break off trade with Spain, among other things. for not allowing the use of Spanish bases for operations against Iran. A day later, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that the government in Madrid had agreed to cooperate with the American military, which the Spanish authorities immediately denied.
However, the Madrid daily ABC later assessed that Pedro Sanchez's government was indirectly supporting the US in its intervention in the Middle East by taking part in various operations within the European Union and NATO. The newspaper recalled, among others: sending the Cristobal Colon frigate to support Cyprus or the US using the NATO base in Naples, Italy, where Spanish soldiers are also located.
