Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak emphasized that signing the contract is a breakthrough moment for the Polish railway. He noted that such a large contract for the purchase of modern trains has never been implemented in Poland before. In turn, the president of PKP Intercity, Janusz Malinowski, expressed his belief that ultimately the number of ordered trains will increase to 72, which will allow the company to significantly increase the number of passengers transported. According to estimates, the new trains will enable the transport of 100,000 people. up to 160 thousand people in one day.

The president of PKP SA, Alan Beroud, pointed out that the exercise of full option rights in the contract may double its value to PLN 14 billion. He also emphasized that the new trains will be able to transport 160,000. passengers per day, which constitutes significant support for the current transport capacity of PKP Intercity, which amounts to an average of 220,000. passengers per day.
The president of Alstom Polska, Beata Rusinowicz, assured that the trains will be manufactured entirely in Poland. The warehouse trolleys will be built in Nadarzyn, and the main production will be carried out in Chorzów. The plant in Chorzów, with a 160-year history, plays a key role in the company's international structure as a competence center in the production and engineering of railway rolling stock. Rusinowicz noted that cooperation with local universities, including the Silesian University of Technology, and 800 Polish suppliers is a reason to be proud.

Equipment of the new Coradia Max trains
The new trains, called Coradia Max, will have a modular design, allowing for adaptation to the specific routes and passenger needs. The six-car trains will accommodate over 550 seats and will be adapted to run in double traction. They will be equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, electrical sockets, places for bicycles and strollers, as well as quiet zones, family compartments and a bistro area. Automatic wide doors and elevators for people with limited mobility will ensure convenient boarding and alighting on platforms of different heights.
The trains will have two systems, which will enable them to be operated with both 3 kV direct current and 25 kV alternating current, so they will be able to run, among others, to the CPK airport and to the Czech Republic. The contract also includes comprehensive servicing, including preventive and corrective maintenance and major repairs of the fleet. The service facilities will be located in Warsaw's Grochów district.
PKP Intercity, the largest interregional railway carrier in Poland, transported 78.5 million passengers last year, which is an increase of 15%. compared to the previous year. The company estimates that in 2030 the number of passengers transported will reach 110 million. The new trains are to play a key role in preparing the company for the competition that will take place in 2030. President Malinowski announced that the trains will run in the economy category, offering cheap tickets and stops in smaller towns.
