In Krasnoyarsk, a criminal case was opened regarding fraud on an especially large scale with the pension of a deceased woman.

The crime was discovered by the prosecutor’s office when they checked data on those whose pensions were suspended last fall because the money had not been withdrawn for more than six months.

“So it turned out that in the Kirov region there was a woman born in 1946, whose accrual was stopped on October 1, 2024, but the real cause for alarm turned out to be much more serious: she died in November 2017. When checking aboutIt turned out that for almost 7 years someone regularly received the deceased’s pension as if she were alive, embezzling 1.3 million rubles. All these years, no one reported the death to the department, and the money went to the account of an unknown person,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The crime was classified under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years with a fine of up to one million rubles. Currently, all the circumstances surrounding the fraud are being clarified.
