The law banning minors from smoking or vaping in public spaces is being debated in the Senate

The Senate will debate the law that prohibits minors from smoking or vaping in public, not even outdoors. Also, adults would no longer be able to use vaping devices indoors, or with heated tobacco.

The provision that even adults will not be allowed to smoke in open public spaces was removed from the original project, after the project had received several unfavorable opinions.
Because in the current law there is a vague phrase that mentions that students in educational institutions are not allowed to smoke classic cigarettes or other tobacco products or substitutes, several parliamentarians are now proposing that it be written clearly in the legislation that minors can no longer smoke in any public space, whether closed or open. At the same time, minors are no longer allowed to consume any kind of tobacco-based product or tobacco substitutes, according to ProTV News.
In the case of minors, smoking in public would be punished with a fine between 100 and 500 lei or a warning.
Regulations for adults too
For adults, the law now prohibits smoking in enclosed public spaces, but the draft proposes that all products containing tobacco and tobacco substitutes, including vapor-based products, be banned indoors.
The bill is in the committees of the Senate, but the Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body.
