PURPOSE SURVEY. AUR is falling in the polls, PSD and PNL show little signs of growth

The party led by George Simion would get more votes than the social democrats and liberals combined, according to an INSCOP Research poll. However, AUR recorded a slight loss compared to January this year.

  • The survey was conducted between March 2-6, 2026, using the CATI method (telephone interviews).
  • The volume of the simple, stratified sample was 1100 people, representative of the significant socio-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over.
  • The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 3% at a confidence level of 95%.

AUR continues to be in first place in the voting intention of Romanians, according to the data of the latest survey conducted by Inscop Research. According to the research, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians is rated at 38% of those who chose a party from the list in the survey, compared to 40.9% in January 2026.

How voting intention for AUR has evolved over the past year

The score of 38% at which AUR is quoted in March is the same as it recorded last November in the Inscop surveys.

Basically AUR was quoted at 38% in November 2025, 40% in October, 40.8% in September, 40.5% in June, 38.1% in May 2025).

How is the Coalition?

On the 2nd place in the polls is PSD, with 19.2%, followed by PNL with 14.5%, USR – 11.4%, UDMR – 4%.

Practically, the current coalition collects almost 50% of the votes.

PSD increased by one percent compared to January, so did PNL, USR lost 0.3%, and UDMR has a minus of almost 1 percent, with the mention that in the case of elections, the Hungarian formation has always crossed the 5% threshold.

“The INSCOP-Informat.ro barometer shows that AUR drops below the 40% threshold again, reaching 38%, down from the almost 41 percent at the beginning of the year. PSD and PNL are separated by 3-5 percentage points depending on the reporting basis – respondents who choose a party, respectively respondents who choose a party and are sure that they will go to vote, and PNL and USR are separated by 1-3 percentage points according to the same criteria. Analyzing the INSCOP data measured in the last 10 months, there is no clear trend of increase or decrease for any political party in Romania”, states the director of Inscop Research, Remus Ștefureac, in a statement accompanying the survey.
