Charles III's visit to the USA. Donald Trump raised the topic of Iran

During Tuesday's meeting with King Charles III, Trump raised the topic of Iran's nuclear program. The US president referred to the conflict in the Middle East. “We're in a little Middle Eastern war right now, if you don't know that. We have militarily defeated this particular adversary and we will never let him – Karol agrees with me even more than I do – we will never allow him to have nuclear weapons Trump said.

The monarch did not directly refer to these words in his speech. In his speech, he focused on the role of the United States as a defender of freedom during World War II and in the reconstruction of Europe. The king noted that freedom is currently threatened by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of NATO and the AUKUS pact for deepening technological and military cooperation in the face of an increasingly complex world.

The king's jokes about the reconstruction of the White House and references to history

The monarch also commented on Trump's reconstruction of the White House. He mentioned improvements to the eastern wing after the president's visit to Windsor Castle. The king joked that the British made their own attempt to rebuild the White House in 1814, referring to the burning of the building by British troops during the Anglo-American War.

Charles III gave the president a symbolic gift in the form of a bell from the British submarine HMS Trump, which participated in World War II. The king added humorously that if the Americans needed to contact the British, they could simply call.

Before the dinner, Trump complimented Charles' earlier speech to Congress. The US president admitted that he envied his performance. The monarch's speech contained critical references to American policy, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine and NATO.
