The balance sheet of repatriates from the Middle East: 1,500 Romanians returned to the country. There are 400 priority cases in the Emirates

Approximately 14,000 Romanian citizens affected by the conflict in the Middle East are under the attention of the Crisis Cell, of which more than 1,500 have already been repatriated, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Tărnea, announced on Saturday.

“We still have a significant number of Romanian citizens who are either tourists, or in transit, or residents who are under the attention of the consular services of Romania and the Crisis Cell of the MAE”, said Ţărnea, presenting the updated balance sheet of the evacuation missions.

Of the people who returned to the country, approximately 1,000 benefited from the transport provided by the Romanian authorities, while 500 returned by their own means.

The spokesperson of the MFA also stated that a considerable part of the urgent cases is concentrated in the United Arab Emirates.

“We have about 400 priority people only in the United Arab Emirates, only in Dubai, a little less in Abu Dhabi, but only in this state we have 400 priority cases. There are still priority cases in Qatar and in the region,” added Ţarnea.

The MAE official reiterated that the Romanian authorities maintain permanent contact with citizens in risk areas, monitoring the situation through diplomatic missions in order to organize new transports where the security context requires it.
