Adrian Mutu (47 years old), former Romanian international, was pleasantly surprised by FC Argeș's progress this season.
The Pitesti team reached the play-offs of the Superliga, but also the semi-finals of the Romanian Cup, and “Briliantul”, a former player at FC Argeș, believes that the team is the surprise of the season.
Adrian Mutu: “The surprise of this season is FC Argeș”
The semifinals of the Romanian Cup ended on Thursday evening with Dinamo's victory over Metalul Buzău, 1-0. Adrian Mutu praised the fact that Dinamo, his former team, is on schedule to win both domestic competitions, but FC Argeș was the team noticed by the former Romanian international.
He also spoke about the University of Craiova, the leader in the Superliga. He believes that the team from Bănie will put the Cup in the background, given that it has a chance to win the title of champion.
“Dinamo is in the chart. It's also in the play-offs, it's also in the semi-finals of the Cup. The cold shower is doing them good, with the last two losses. This qualification is normal, even if Metalul Buzău played well. He rose in the first minutes to the level of Dinamo. They were no laughing matter in the Cup.
There are 4 play-off teams in the semi-finals. I think Craiova scores more in the championship. It's their chance to get it this year and I think they can. The others think they will shoot more.
The surprise of this season is FC Argeș. He is also in the play-offs and semi-finals of the Cup. I think it will be a great performance if they reach the final of the Cup”, said Adrian Mutu, according to digisport.ro.
