The Israeli military on Thursday called for the immediate evacuation of all residents of Beirut's southern suburbs. A day earlier, a similar appeal was sent to residents throughout southern Lebanon.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced on Thursday that he had asked French President Emmanuel Macron to intervene with the Israeli authorities regarding the airstrikes on Beirut and southern Lebanon, AFP reported.

According to the press office of the Lebanese president, Aoun asked Macron in a telephone conversation to “intervene with the Israeli authorities to prevent attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut” and to help “achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible.”

The Israeli army, which has been waging war against Iran together with the US since Saturday, is also attacking the targets of the terrorist group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. On Thursday, the Israeli command issued an appeal to residents of Beirut's southern suburbs to “evacuate immediately if they want to survive.”

Israeli media emphasized that previous calls of this type concerned specific buildings that were later attacked by the Israeli armed forces. The current order covers four districts located in the southern suburbs of the city, considered a stronghold of Hezbollah, allied with Iran.

Earlier on Thursday, the Lebanese government introduced a complete ban on the activities of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the country. The Ministry of Information in Beirut said that under the regulations introduced on Thursday, the mere presence of IRGC members in the country will be grounds for arrest. It was also announced that all people belonging to this organization would be deported to Iran.

Macron: Everything must be done to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into war again

“Everything must be done to ensure that this country, which is close to France, is not drawn into war again,” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron on Platform X, responding to the appeal of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to intervene with the Israeli authorities regarding the airstrikes on Beirut and southern Lebanon.

Macron appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to expand the war to Lebanon and to abandon the ground operation in that country, and to the leaders of Iran not to involve Lebanon in the war.

After Wednesday's talks with U.S. President Donald Trump and Netanyahu, Macron said he had held talks with the Lebanese authorities again “to establish a plan that would end the military actions currently being carried out by (pro-Iranian Lebanese organization) Hezbollah and Israel from both sides of the border.”

He also announced the “immediate sending” of humanitarian aid to refugees leaving southern Lebanon.
