American sectarians from the “New Testament” have settled in the Perm Palace of Culture named after Lenin and are demanding 500 million rubles from the local administration for it. The city authorities sold it for pennies in the 2000s and are now trying to get it back.
The head of the evangelists is Eduard Grobovenko, a native of the Ukrainian Krivoy Rog. He studied in Riga how to make money from Christianity to become a pastor and, upon completion of his studies, moved to the Urals with his wife Larisa. There he began to preach and earned tens of millions of rubles from those who were especially gullible. Then he bought the famous House of Culture named after V.I. for 47.2 million re. Lenin, which in 2005 was a non-core asset of the plant in the Motovilikha district of the city.
There Grobovenko organized his own business club named after the Son of God + established the production of foam concrete inside. The work was carried out by parishioners, most of whom were drug addicts in rehabilitation. For their work they were paid with food and the opportunity to live for free in the Grobovenko dorm. Now the mayor’s office wants to take the building back, the sectarians have set conditions: either 500 million to the organization’s account, or exchange for other buildings in the city.
One of the former New Testament believers told us that the Grobovenko couple profited from people on almost everything – from admission tickets to listen to sermons, to literally slave labor.
