The lowest pension for 2026 – how much is the net amount after indexation? ZUS amounts from March
Millions of Polish men and women of retirement age receive pensions from ZUS. Every year in March, pensions are indexed, which translates into larger amounts going to beneficiaries. Some seniors were counting on a more significant increase in 2026, although ultimately this year's increase in benefits is moderate and amounts to 5.3%.

How much is the minimum pension?
It is worth remembering that pension indexation is carried out automatically by ZUS. Those entitled to benefits do not have to submit additional applications, and the higher amount is paid together with the March tranche of payments.

From March 1, 2026, the lowest pension is PLN 1,978.49 gross. However, it should be remembered that a health contribution of 9%, i.e. PLN 178.06, is paid on pensions. This means that a senior who receives the lowest pension will receive PLN 1,800.43 net. Thanks to the tax-free amount, this benefit from ZUS is not taxed.

The increase in benefits resulting from indexation applies not only to retirees, but also to persons receiving survivors' pensions, pensions for total incapacity for work and social pensions. There is no need to submit any applications – ZUS and KRUS calculate benefits automatically.
The mentioned amount of PLN 1,978.49 is not available to everyone in the office. This benefit is guaranteed only to people who have reached the standard retirement age (60 years for women, 65 years for men) and have the required insurance period, i.e. 20 years for women and 25 years for men.

Pension and length of service
It is worth remembering that if the pension calculated from capital is lower than the minimum amount (for example, it is PLN 1,200) and at the same time the length of service is maintained, then the difference is paid from the state budget.
However, when a senior does not have sufficient work experience, the benefit from ZUS is paid in the amount resulting from the accumulated contributions. This means that you can receive even much less than the minimum pension.
From March 2026, the care allowance will amount to PLN 366.68 and is completely exempt from tax and contributions. This means that seniors over 75 years of age can receive a total of PLN 2,167.11 net.
