“Definitely the best moment in this game was when we scored. We are very focused, we are a united family and we gave everything we had to win.

We are going to Cyprus to win and I really hope we finish this group in first place. Of course, it will be a tough game in Cyprus. No one will give up on this campaign, but, as I said, I hope we win and stay up there”, declared Ioana Bălăceanu at the end of the match.

Teodora Nicoară, after Romania's victory over Moldova

Teodora Nicoară started in Tuesday's match, but was replaced at halftime, and Ana Maria Vladulescu, the player from Csikszereda, entered the field in her place.

“We expected it to be a difficult match, but we are happy that we managed to get the three points, that we managed to score, and from now on our focus is on the next match. We go there focused on getting the three points. When we found out our group, we clearly said that we want to win this group and return to Group B, where I think we belong.

We have a tough game against Cyprus ahead of us, but we will take it one step at a time and from tomorrow our focus is on that game. It doesn't mean that if we played 1-0 it wasn't a good game.

We clearly met a Moldovan team that, from my point of view, closed their lanes very well and I think that was an advantage for them and a disadvantage for us”, said Teodora Nicoară, at the end of the match.

  • The return match, from Moldova, will be played on June 5. On April 18, the Cyprus national team will come to Romania for the return match.
