The FC Inter Stars 2020 Sibiu team definitively won in court the right to use the logo, colors and track record of the historic club FC Inter Sibiu, one of the most important teams in the history of football in Sibiu county.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal has won the case regarding the trial with the Italian team Inter Milan, so the team from the 3rd league can use the visual identity and the record of the team that won the Balkan Cup in 1991.

Rominvent SA, mandated by Inter Media and Communication SpA, a subsidiary of FC Internazionale Milano SpA, had submitted a lawsuit to the Romanian club regarding the name the team wanted to use, but the Italians' appeal was rejected by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, according to liga2.prosport.ro.

The announcement was made by the club, through a statement issued on social networks.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected, on Monday, March 2, as unfounded the appeal submitted to the court by Inter Media and Comunication SpA through the trustee Rominvent SA. The decision is final, so FC Inter Stars 2020 Sibiu can use the logo and colors of FC Inter, in addition it will hold the record of the traditional club that achieved the greatest football performance for Sibiu, winning the Balkan Cup, in 1991.

The project to bring the team back to life was initiated by Teodor Birț, the public administrator of the Sibiu City Hall, who contributed in 2015 to the establishment of the FC Hermannstadt team. He spoke about the decision taken by the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

“I am very happy that, after a period of several years, we finally managed to recover an asset of Sibiu in court. It is a great achievement for football in our locality. We have brought FC Inter Sibiu back to life, a team of tradition, loved by the people of Sibiu. This obliges us to do much more in the future for FC Inter.

It is a big responsibility for us to restore this team to its former glory, but we are convinced that, together with the Sibiu supporters, we will succeed. It is a great victory to recover the record, the logo and the colors of the club that obtained, at the senior level, the only trophy for Siberian football, the Balkan Cup, won in 1991″, he said, according to the club's official page.

FC Inter Sibiu was founded in 1982, the name coming from the enterprise “Independenta” and from the Sibiu Terezian neighborhood.

In 1986, FC Inter was promoted to Division B, and in 1988 it climbed onto Romania's first football stage. In the 1990/1991 season, the Sibiians finished fourth in Division A, the best ranking in the club's history, and in 1991 they won the Balkan Cup, a cup they beat Buducnost Titograd, 1-0, after a double leg.

In 1996, the team was relegated to Division B, and in 2000 the club was disbanded.
