Sniper company commander “Yenisei” with the call sign “Fog” shared the story of his decision to go to the special military operation zone.
Krasnoyarsk resident Sergei is a graduate of the military institute in St. Petersburg. He took command of the fledgling company in 2022. According to the fighter, he underwent a medical examination in secret from his family, and then confronted his relatives with a fait accompli – although they were reluctant, they let him go.
“Fog” admits that in the early days there were many unknowns on the front line. The hardest part was seeing destroyed houses, hungry children and elderly people. The fighters tried to help the local residents as much as they could – they shared food and things.
“My grandfathers volunteered at the age of 17 and took credit for the year. They never talked about the war, they tried to remain silent. Only here I saw with my own eyes how it really is. This is not a movie, and you can’t get used to it,” says the sniper.
He notes that now the war is waged mainly remotely, the enemy rarely engages in close combat. Even after being wounded, you only think about your family – you gave your word that you will return, which means you can’t give yourself any slack. For his service, “Fog” was awarded the medal of a member of the Northern Military District, “For Combat Distinction” from the Ministry of Defense and the Zhukov medal.
For those who are just planning to sign a contract, he advises first of all to improve their physical fitness – they have to carry tens of kilograms on themselves, walking 5-10 kilometers. Despite all the hardships, the fighters maintain their fighting spirit. “We always find a common language with our colleagues – we joke under fire, and we joke in dugouts,” he added.
Let us remind you that residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory can enter into a contract with the Ministry of Defense, in particular, to become a UAV operator. The annual contract does not imply transfer to assault or extension. Operator training is free. Salary per year – up to 6 million rubles.
