

According to him, the new ground “cache” have reinforced walls and protect personnel from debris during missile and drone attacks. Such shelters have already been installed in Ukrainian ports and thermal power plants, where it is important to ensure the continuity of production processes even during shelling.
“For an energy-intensive and export-oriented economy, it is critical that both the ports and the energy sector operate. Therefore, we help protect personnel at these facilities, and also set up shelters at our own enterprises,” Mironenko noted.
The company is implementing the Citadel project, which is building a shelter for the civilian population. One shelter has already been built in Borodyanka, Kyiv region, and several more are under construction in Zaporozhye.
Metinvest emphasized that the main advantage of steel shelters is the speed of installation: they can be installed in three to four weeks, while the construction of concrete analogues takes up to six months. The company is negotiating with communities to expand the project and plans to install at least several dozen such facilities within a year.
Context
As part of the military initiative “Steel Front” of Rinat Akhmetov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were given 900 shelters.
