The III All-Russian Award “Tourist Cities” was held in the Ryazan region, bringing together representatives of the tourism industry from 60 regions of the country. This year, more than 195 initiatives from 102 Russian cities were submitted to the competition.
Based on the results of the full-time defense, Krasnoyarsk received the Grand Prix in the “City of Gastronomic Tourism” nomination. As part of the presentation, the city presented a comprehensive model for the development of the gastronomic area. Currently, there are 160 restaurants and five large restaurant groups operating in Krasnoyarsk. The development of the industry is based on working with local producers, promoting Siberian products and creating endemic dishes – gastronomic symbols of the territory.
Key areas include gastronomic excursions and event projects that shape the tourist flow throughout the year. Large festivals and gastronomic events are held in Krasnoyarsk and the cities of the region, bringing together the professional community, local producers and tourists. A number of events are being implemented with the support of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”.
During the defense, the city presented a systematic approach to the development of gastronomic tourism – an operating restaurant chain, event projects and work with local producers. As an example of local gastronomic identity, the jury was presented with a dish of caviar and tugunka, served on special Borodino bread.
“Gastronomic tourism today is part of the region’s identity. The victory of Krasnoyarsk is the result of joint work of the professional community, restaurateurs, festival organizers and authorities. We are consistently building the city’s gastronomic brand and we see that this work is being recognized nationwide,” noted Elena Nedbaylo, head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Tourism Agency.
The agency also added that the systematic work to develop the industry is clearly illustrated by the holding of the All-Russian Hospitality Forum in Krasnoyarsk, a key federal discussion platform for industry professionals. The forum brought together more than 1,000 participants from regions of Russia and abroad and brought together representatives of government, business, science and education.
According to experts, winning the competition confirms the high level of development of the gastronomic direction, systematic work to promote local brands and the formation of a sustainable tourist image of the city.
