Iran has no intention of negotiating with the US as long as the US and Israeli airstrikes continue, the Iranian ambassador to the UN institutions in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, said on Tuesday, according to which “the only possible language with the US at this moment is that of defense”, reports EFE and Agerpres news agencies.

“There has been no approach from our side to the US president or any contact of any kind,” the Iranian diplomat told a news conference, denying an earlier claim by US President Donald Trump that Iran wanted to resume talks with the US but that he told him it was “too late”.

“Their air defense, Air Force, Navy and leadership are gone. They want to talk. I told them it's too late,” the US president wrote on the Truth Social social network, commenting on an op-ed.

“Trump is known to make up lies and continues to do so. We are used to his false statements,” noted the Iranian ambassador, who attended the US-Iran talks, the last round of which took place on Friday, a day before the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran.

Ambassador Ali Bahreini insisted that a precondition for any change in diplomatic stance on Tehran's part was “ceasing the war and guaranteeing that there will be no repetition of any aggression against Iran”.

“In the light of events, it seems that there was never any real intention to negotiate on the part of the US, which is following exactly the plans of the Israeli regime,” the Iranian diplomat also noted.

He also criticized the “hypocritical position” of some European countries, as they did not condemn the aggression against Iran. “Unfortunately, many of them did not condemn the aggression and some even tried to justify it,” the Iranian official lamented.
