The largest developer of software for processing documents and dictionaries, ABBYY, fired all Russians at once. Programmer layoffs took place in offices in Cyprus, Belgrade and Budapest.
The company left the Russian Federation in 2022, but offered IT specialists offers and relocation. Several hundred people agreed. Yesterday evening they were unexpectedly fired. Dozens of relocant employees were torn in the hitter.

During the meeting, everyone was prohibited from writing in the chat and everyone’s video and microphones were turned off. They said that everyone had been fired and that a letter would be sent to the post office. Immediately after the meeting, corporate access was cut off everywhere (and there, as is clear, paislips and everything in general). First they announced to the Cypriot office, then the Serbian, then the Hungarian. Everyone with a Russian passport was fired

— wrote one of the employees.
According to those fired, the company simply chose Indian developers to save money. At the same time, the Russians were not touched at the headquarters in California, the programmers assure.
ABBYY was born in 1989 thanks to MIPT student David Yan. Now there is not a word about the Soviet past. The Russian language is not even available on the site.
