Residents of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory were told how to choose the right sconces for the bedroom, living room and children's room.
Sconces are lamps that are mounted directly on the wall. This wall-mounted light source produces a more localized and softer light, which is significantly different from that produced by chandeliers or built-in models. The main reason why many decide to buy sconces is beauty and style, but lamps also have other, quite practical, purposes.
They are often used for the following purposes:
- zoning of large premises;
- illumination of paintings, mirrors, dressing tables, niches and the like;
- as a bedside light source;
- creating atmospheric evening lighting.
Sconces have an obvious advantage: they allow you to create multi-level light, enlivening the interior and making it more thoughtful.
It may seem that all sconces are the same. In fact, they can be quite different from each other. Lamps are divided according to the following criteria:
- in the direction of the world. It can go up, down, in both directions. The lamps can also be rotating;
- by design. Models can be classic, with lampshades, in the form of spots, modern LED panels or decorative lamps of complex shape;
- by type of installation. There are overhead models, built-in, on a bracket. Nowadays there are also models with a flexible leg.
Such a variety of designs allows you to use sconces in a variety of interior styles.
For example, in classic interiors they use models with fabric lampshades, crystal, and forged elements. Gilding or embellishments are often added. Scandinavian minimalism is more characterized by laconic, simple models, usually made of wood. In the modern version of minimalism, models with simple geometry and strict lines are often used; they usually have built-in LED modules. For a loft, open lamps and industrial motifs are chosen; they usually have a steel or copper body. In Art Deco, sconces have glossy surfaces, glass, and asymmetry.
From a technical point of view, it is important to understand what type of lamp is used for sconces (halogen, fluorescent, LED). At the same time, it is important to understand what brightness and color temperature they should have in order for the lamp to be as efficient as possible. You also need to take into account the degree of protection (IP): for bathrooms it should be IP44 at least. For ordinary rooms, IP20 is sufficient.
