“The fact that two, three or four Hungarian drones have passed or not the border is not a problem ”, Orban said in a podcast moderated by his party spokesman, adding that he tends to believe his defense minister, Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, who denied the accusations.
The Hungarian prime minister stressed that Kiev should rather worry about “The Russian drones at his eastern border ”. “Let's say they flew a few meters in the country, and what if? ”said Orban.
Orban also stated that without the financial support of the West, “Ukraine would collapse immediately.”
The statements come after Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Friday that “probably Hungarian recognition drones ” they overcame the Ukrainian territory.
The Budapest Defense Ministry listed the accusations on Saturday as “Totally unfounded”, While the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga published a map of drone trajectory, received from the Ukrainian armed forces.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian army, a drone was detected on Friday morning in the Transcarpathian region, flying the area on two rows, at different altitudes.
Hungary, a member of NATO and the EU, has strengthened in recent years the political and economic connections with Moscow and refuses to provide military aid to Kiev, blocking Ukraine's accession negotiations and obstructing EU sanctions against Russia.
The tensions between Budapest and Kiev have also increased because of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, as well as the distribution of Hungarian passports to tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens.
