President Zelensky on the US peace plan. “We will work on the points”

“Today, during the meeting with Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, we talked about the possibilities of achieving real peace, the stages of work and dialogue formats, as well as new impulses for diplomacy. Our teams – Ukrainian and US – will work on the points of the plan to end the war. We are ready to work constructively, honestly and quickly,” Zelensky wrote on social media platforms.

Russian attack on Tarnopol. 27 people died

He informed that he discussed with Driscoll, among others: Russian attack on Ternopil in western Ukraine. “The Kh-101 rocket that the Russian army hit an ordinary apartment block yesterday was produced in 2025. It contains 175 foreign components that still reach Russia bypassing sanctions. We are counting on US help in limiting all such schemes,” he stressed.

What does the 28-point peace plan contain?

According to the latest data, 27 people, including three children, died in the attack on Tarnopol, which took place on Wednesday morning. Putin's troops attacked Ukraine on Wednesday morning using over 470 drones and almost 50 missiles. Two apartment blocks were hit and fires broke out. Shelling was also aimed at, among others, in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.

The President of Ukraine again assured that he appreciated the efforts of President Trump and his people to restore security in Europe.

“Ukraine defends life and independence thanks to the courage of our people, our unity within the state and the help of partners. We are working so that all three elements are strong enough. Glory to Ukraine!” – wrote Zelensky.

According to, among others, Axios and Politico portals The US and Russia are currently working on a 28-point plan that assumes the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire Donbas – the region would be under Russian control but would be considered a demilitarized zone.

In the Kherson and Zaporizhia Oblasts, the current front lines would mostly be frozen, and Russia would return some of the occupied territory after negotiations. The plan also assumes recognition of the Russian language as the official state language in Ukraine and giving official status to the local branch of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The British daily “Financial Times” reported in turn that “in the document Ukraine was called on to limit key weapons resources, and (postulated) to withdraw American military aid (for this country), which is of great importance for its defense.

“Officials in Kiev who were informed about the plan said that it was strictly in line with the Kremlin's maximalist demands and that it was unacceptable to Ukraine without significant changes,” reported the British daily Financial Times.

However, Thursday's Wall Street Journal reported – citing an administration representative – that Driscoll presented Zelensky with a different plan for an agreement than the 28-point one created mainly by Witkoff. The daily added that The U.S. “has not established any specific plan and will continue to consult with the warring parties,” and the final agreement could contain elements of both plans.
