Iran launched a new wave of attacks on Israel and US bases in the region on Sunday after announcing in the morning that it was carrying out “the most ferocious offensive operation in the history of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran”..
The new Iranian strikes come after Tehran finally confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Iranian state media announced who is now in charge.

Erbil Air Base in Iraq was also attacked. Images posted on social media showed a large cloud of black smoke over the base where a contingent of US troops is stationed, after Iran's Fars news agency said loud explosions were heard in the Iraqi city.

What the US and Israel are doing
The Israeli military (IDF) said on X morning that in the early hours of Sunday it had already hit “more than 30 targets in western and central Iran, including air defense systems, missile launchers, regime targets and military command centers.”
“The IDF will continue to degrade the capabilities of the Iranian terrorist regime until it can no longer threaten our people.”
The US Military Command also announced on X that they are “currently taking swift and decisive action as directed”, adding a clip of missile launches against Iran.

What is the latest information
- Iranian justice has confirmed the death of two high-ranking military figures killed in the Israeli-American attacks on Saturday: the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, General Mohammad Pakpour, and Ali Shamkhani, the head of the National Defense Council.
- Several companies owning oil fleets, big players and trading houses in the field have suspended the transportation of crude oil, fuels and liquefied natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz.
- The death toll in a US-Israeli attack on a girls' school in the southern Iranian city of Minab has risen to 118, according to Iranian state media.
- Hundreds of thousands of travelers were stranded or diverted to other airports after Israel, Qatar, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and Bahrain closed their airspace.
