The evening of covers on Friday at the Sanremo Festival also had a moment censored by the Italian television Rai 1, writes the publication Fanpage.it. The festival is broadcast in Romania by TVR 1, and tonight the winners will be announced.

The duet of singers Levante and Gaia on the stage of the Ariston Theater caused reactions in Italy. And not because of any problem with the interpretation of Gianna Nannini's famous song, “I maschi”, but because at the end of the song, the two performers kissed on the lips on stage.

At that moment, the director of Rai 1 television interrupted the transmission, filming them from a distance, and the viewers could only intuit the gesture. Levante then explained the reasons for the kiss a few minutes later.

“We fell in love,” said Levante, referring to Gaia: “The piece is appropriate because Gianna Nannini described that way of experiencing sexuality as a man.” “Did you shock the bourgeoisie?” the Rai 2 presenter asked, referring to the kiss, and Levante and Gaia replied: “Especially the ladies in the front row.” Then the two kissed again.

Poor audiences, a favorite

The 76th edition of the Sanremo Festival ends on Saturday evening. This is the last year that Rai star Carlo Conti is artistic director and presenter. This year, next to him, the singer Laura Pausini, co-presenter, was on stage. After the first evenings, the big favorite is Arisa.

This year's festival is highly criticized in the press in Italy, and the TV audiences looked bad, with about 3 million viewers less than last year. Even so, the Festival remains one of the most watched and publicized television programs in Italy.

Saturday night, special guest is Andrea Bocelli.
