Experts from the Credit Information Bureau (BIK) pointed out that the Polish non-bank loan market is based on two main product segments. The first are cash loans, which are paid directly to the borrower's account and can be used by him for any purpose, including supporting the household budget or other consumer expenses.

There are two categories of cash loans in this segment. Cash loans granted for low amounts and short periods (up to 60 days) and for higher amounts and longer, often several-year periods (over 60 days) – they indicated.

According to BIK data, the January sales value of cash loans up to 60 days amounted to PLN 1.218 billion and was higher by 15.9%. y/y. In January 2026, 488,000 were granted. such loans, i.e. by 5.0 percent. more y/y. These loans accounted for 73 percent. values ​​and 87 percent the number of cash loans granted in January this year. The average value of a cash loan for up to 60 days was PLN 2,837 and was 14.1% higher than in the previous year. higher than the average amount granted in January a year ago.

The report also states that in January 2026, cash loans for a period exceeding 60 days were granted in the amount of PLN 462 million (more by 14.4% y/y). A total of 71,000 of them were granted, which means a decrease of 3.3% compared to January 2025. The average value of a cash loan over 60 days was PLN 6,478 and was 18.2% higher than in the previous year. higher than the average amount granted last year.

Experts also reported that in January 2026, loan companies granted a total of PLN 925,000. installment loans (increase by 16.2% y/y) in the amount of PLN 601 million (increase by 16.6% y/y). The average value of an installment loan was PLN 650 and was 0.3 percent higher. higher than the average value of such a loan granted in January 2025.

They added that installment loans are characterized by a low amount and are intended to finance a specific purpose, such as the purchase of goods or services; therefore, it is not cash made directly available to the client, which he or she can use directly. (PAP)
