Claudiu Năsui accuses Sorin Grindeanu of wanting to block any reform. “If he cared, he would have proposed reforms”

USR deputy Claudiu Năsui accused PSD, on Friday, of wanting to block any potential reform, after social-democratic leader Sorin Grindeanu launched a series of criticisms and threats against Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

“It seems to me that these are the statements of a man who wants to absolutely block any potential reform, but these things were clear as early as seven months ago, that is, it was clear from seven months ago that the power of the Bolojan Government was great then and will be eroded over time, especially since the first measures that were taken were ones likely to decrease its popularity”said Claudiu Năsui in an interview for RFI.
The reply comes after, in an interview granted this week to G4Media, the PSD leader announced that he will propose an internal vote in the party, for the formation to decide if it wants to remain in coalition with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan or if it wants another prime minister from the PNL.
After Sorin Grindeanu accused Ilie Bolojan of not being the prime minister of Romania, but rather of the USR, Claudiu Năsui replied: “This is Mr. Grindeanu's personal judgment. For now, what I can say is that the Bolojan Government has been very weak on the reform implementation side, spending cuts are not a reform and we have not yet reached the point where we can see any significant reform. If Mr. Grindeanu really cared about these things, he would have proposed reforms, it would have been him or the PSD would have said things and then he would have put Mr. Bolojan in the position to refuse them, but here we see only a political criticism, without much impact on people's lives”.
Nasui also claimed that the PSD could vote on the state budget for 2026, but only after amending it in Parliament.
“The PSD will vote on the budget. The question is whether it will vote on the amended budget or not. The PSD can with the AUR submit any amendment to the budget, so they can make whatever budget they want, so we understand. The Ministry of Finance proposes a budget to the Parliament, the Parliament amends with the majority and a budget comes out. So I don't think that the PSD will not vote on the budget, rather, maybe it will amend it in the desired sense, together with the AUR or with a majority that it will build in Parliament”declared Năsui.
