After supporting the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, Banca Transilvania has announced that it will be the official racing partner of the McLaren Formula 1 team for two more rounds. These are the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix and the 2027 Hungarian Grand Prix.
In May 2025, Banca Transilvania became the second company from Cluj-Napoca and the third in Romania to sign a partnership with a Formula 1 team. Bitdefender signed a partnership with Ferrari in 2022, and in 2025, RebelDOT, an IT company from Cluj, became a technology partner of the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team.

Banca Transilvania has partnered with McLaren, the team that won the world title in 2024 and 2025. At last year's Hungarian Grand Prix, the bank established in 1993 was the official racing partner of the British team.
On Thursday, February 26, Banca Transilvania announced that, in the next two seasons, it will be the official racing partner for two more stages: Austrian Grand Prix 2026 (June 26-28) and Hungarian Grand Prix 2027.
“We are happy to extend our partnership with the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, in Austria and Hungary. It is yet another opportunity to bring Banca Transilvania and Romania into a strong international context, connected to performance and innovation at the highest level. For our customers, the partnership means both the pride of this achievement and access to premium experiences inspired by McLaren,” said Omer Tetik, Banca Transilvania's general manager.
“This season marks a new chapter full of energy in our collaboration with the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 team and Banca Transilvania. Being right in the middle of the action, where performance and technology set the pace, is where we feel best. We want the energy of the circuit to be found in experiences that remain alive in the memory of customers, long after the finish line,” said Cosmin Vladimirescu, General Manager of Mastercard in Romania and Croatia.
The new Formula 1 season will start in March with the Australian Grand Prix (March 6-8). Lando Norris, one of the two McLaren drivers, will this year try to defend his world title won in 2025, after resisting an incredible comeback from Max Verstappen.
