Cristian Tudor Popescu criticized the way in which the PSD is positioned in relation to the governing coalition and believes that the threats launched by the party leader to the liberal Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan “are made for the public, it does not mean that they will be implemented”.
The journalist accused Sorin Grindeanu, on Thursday, on B1 TV, that “he is in the government, therefore in the cheese”, and “he can satisfy his party clientele”, but he threatens to oppose the budget in order to “gain political capital, points in the polls”.
“If you look closely, this man is doing nothing but spouting incoherent words. There is nothing behind these words,” CTP said.
He claims that the PSD leader thus maintains a “warm connection with his electorate”.
“Next level (next level, no) is to say expressis verbis (explicitly, no), sir, we have no problem with the coalition, we have no problem with the PNL, we want to kick Bolojan out. So it's an attack on the person. Nothing matters anymore, the person Bolojan matters. This kind of thing is inadmissible in political life and especially in a coalition. You can oppose some ideas, some proposals of Bolojan, some cuts, restructurings that you don't agree with, but you can't make it your goal to kick out the man, the Bolojan person”, added Cristian Tudor Popescu.
CTP believes that these threats “are made for the public” and “does not mean they will be acted upon”.
“Think how many of these words have been put into practice during these months, by Grindeanu”, he also declared.
On Wednesday, in an interview for G4Media, the PSD leader announced that he would propose to his party colleagues “a slightly more extensive consultation” to determine whether they want to remain in government in the current configuration “or in a more limited form, without USR, for example, and if we go ahead with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan”.
On Thursday, PNL gave PSD an ultimatum to decide whether to stay in government or not. In response, Sorin Grindeanu declared in a press conference in Constanța that “Romania cannot be governed only by arrogance and by the impression that a prime minister of a coalition belongs to a single party”.
