Poczta Polska dismissed many employees. Meanwhile, revenues are going up


In 2025, employment in the state postal operator decreased by almost 8.5 thousand. full-time positions. This was announced by Deputy Minister of State Assets, Grzegorz Wrona, during Wednesday's meeting of the parliamentary subcommittee.

The representative of the ministry reported that during the year the number of employees decreased from over 58.7 thousand. to over 50.2 thousand full-time positions. — In 2025, the decline in employment, in addition to natural staff turnover, was the result of the implemented Voluntary Redundancy Program and group layoffs, Wrona noted. Despite a significant reduction in the number of employees, the costs of personal and non-personal remuneration amounted to PLN 4 billion last year.
Sales result of PLN 611 million
The company's preliminary sales result for 2025 reached PLN 611 million. As the MAP representative noted, auditors have not yet checked this data. — This level is the result of an increase in the level of sales revenues and a simultaneous decrease in the level of costs of basic operating activities – added Wrona. Sales revenues increased by 1.2%. compared to data from 2024. The greatest increase was recorded in income from the sale of financial services, which increased by 9.7%. In turn, the costs of basic operating activities decreased by 1.4%.

The operator recorded declines in traditional areas of activity. — However, in 2025, there was a decline in revenues from letter and advertising services, a decrease of 2.9%. This is a continuation of the long-standing trend of migrating traditional correspondence to electronic channels, added the representative of the ministry. Revenues from KEP market services (courier, express, parcel) decreased by 13.4% compared to the previous year.
The President of Poczta Polska, Sebastian Mikosz, pointed out that despite the reduction in employment, human resources expenses account for 65%. all company costs. – This is due to the fact that the minimum wage is rising and we are in a situation where what we have reduced in terms of the number of people employed has been increased through higher expenses – explained the head of the state operator.
Poczta Polska and support from the state budget
Over the past year, the company received financial support from the state budget. From the beginning of 2024 to February 2026, the state postal operator obtained a total of PLN 2,667,000. PLN as compensation for the provision of universal services in 2021-2024. According to Wrona, the Ministry of State Assets also paid Poczta Polska aid amounting to nearly PLN 2 million in 2024-2025 to remove the effects of the flood of September 2024. In 2025, the company also received over PLN 85 million as a reduction in investment costs related to the implementation of the public e-Delivery service.
In the background, Poczta Polska is implementing digital transformation. The state operator has identified 48 priority IT projects, which was confirmed by Mikosz. The company estimates that over the next two and a half years it will spend almost PLN 1.5 billion for this purpose. Seven of these projects concern cybersecurity, for which the company plans to allocate almost PLN 100 million.

New post offices are constantly appearing. We spend so much time in line
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the Post Office opened nine new own points and 22 partner points. Currently, the state-owned operator has 4,846 own branches. The president informed that the average waiting time in the branch for service ranges from 2 minutes 16 seconds to 5 minutes 58 seconds.
— I understand that there are times when you have to wait for a very long time at the post office, but we work on general statistics and the average waiting time at a branch for service is between 2 minutes 16 seconds and 5 minutes 58 seconds. These are statistics that we have scattered across all facilities, with an average of over 100 people visiting the facilities per day, Mikosz said. As emphasized, approximately half a million people visit Poczta Polska every day.
The operator is developing the financial services segment. As explained by the head of the company, work is underway to ensure that Poczta Polska employees are sellers of financial products, but not on the basis of combining functions, but on an exclusive basis. The company plans to create financial zones, of which there will be approximately 500 at the beginning. Ultimately, the operator intends to recruit people exclusively involved in the sale of financial products.

He also announced that the company is developing the cash logistics segment and has signed agreements for the purchase of 40 so-called bank vans, i.e. specialized vehicles intended for transporting cash. – In the coming weeks, approximately 300 of these bank vans will be purchased – added Mikosz.
Poczta Polska is the largest postal operator on the domestic market, whose network covers 7.6 thousand. branches, branches and postal agencies throughout Poland. The company delivers 800 million letters and 80 million parcels annually. In 2024, the company had a net loss of PLN 213 million, which was lower by PLN 408 million compared to 2023. In turn, EBITDA increased to PLN 42 million in 2024, compared to a negative result of PLN 591 million a year earlier.
