The Bi-2 group has refused legal protection of its name in Russia. Previously, the trademark belonged to Bi-2 LLC – it was owned by foreign agent Lyova and Shura. The participants re-registered the brand to a certain Maria Krutova from Ryazan after they left their homeland.
The woman wrote a statement to Rospatent after the detention of “Bi-2” in Thailand. This – when the owner voluntarily withdraws a trademark ahead of schedule – is rare. Usually the copyright holder simply waits for the expiration of the term, since he has paid for the validity of the trademark. Krutova herself introduces herself by the name Vyugina as the team’s PR woman.
