The Spanish Civil Guard announced that it has destroyed a network that illegally transported between 1,000 and 2,500 Moroccans in Spain Via Romania, each person having to pay 3,000 euros for travel, reports AFP, AGERPRES.

Four people leading the network in Spain were arrested in the province of Murcia, in the southeast of the country, for belonging to an criminal network and to encourage clandestine migration, the civil guard indicated in a statement.

This did not specify the nationalities of the arrested persons. The network would have attracted Moroccans who wanted to reach Spain and made them pay 3,000 euros to send them to the plane to Romania, before transporting them to a truck to the Iberian Peninsula.

The Spanish authorities estimate that the suspects have made, during the last two years, 50 transfers to Spain, carrying groups of 20 to 50 Moroccans each time, which allowed them to complete between 1,000 and 2,500 clandestine migrants.

In Romania, the organization had a “logistical center” to hide people while they were waiting to be sent to Spain, the civil guard said.

The operation to destroy the network was carried out in collaboration with the European Police Agencies (Europol) and border guard (Frontx).
