According to law enforcement officers, the preparation of the terrorist attack was carried out by a 33-year-old native of the Rivne region, who was allegedly recruited by the Russian special services while looking for “easy money” in Telegram channels.
“After recruitment, she arrived in Lvov and settled in a rented apartment near the site of the planned terrorist attack. Next, the woman received from her curator from the Russian Federation detailed instructions on how to make a SVP from improvised materials,” the press service said in a statement.
Preparation and implementation of a terrorist attack
According to investigators, the suspect purchased components from the hardware departments of supermarkets, manufactured three explosive devices and equipped them with mobile phones for remote detonation.
“On the instructions of the curator, the attacker installed a smartphone in the apartment, which broadcast an online video with a view of the “target”. With its help, the enemy monitored the situation around the store and carried out remote explosions when police crews arrived at the scene,” law enforcement officers inform.
Course of events
As recorded in the case file, at night line 102 received a message about the alleged illegal entry of two men into the store. When police arrived at the scene, the first explosive device went off. After the explosion, according to the SBU, two more police patrols and a foot patrol of the National Guard arrived at the scene.
“At this moment, the second and third explosions occurred almost simultaneously,” the special service noted.
Actions after the attack
After the explosions, the probable perpetrator left the crime scene and went to the Sambir railway station.
According to the press service, the suspect was detained in hot pursuit by the SBU and the National Police. Searches were carried out at her place of temporary residence in Lvov and evidence of her probable work for the enemy was seized.
The security service published a video in which the suspect says that she often looked for work through Telegram. One day an unknown person approached her and offered to carry out “simple tasks for easy money,” including setting fire to TCC cars.
According to her, she was promised $2 thousand for completing the task, which she never received. The suspect also described in detail how she and her curator made explosives.
