Blizzard and strong wind weather warnings. Code yellow and Code orange in several regions of the country, especially in the mountains

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued new Code Yellow and Code Orange warnings of strong blizzard and wind intensifications, valid on Tuesday and Wednesday in several areas of the country. At the same time, the meteorologists extended until Thursday morning the information about precipitation, hail, ice and wind, which covers most of the territory.

Between February 24, 10:00 a.m. and February 26, 8:00 a.m., there will be precipitation in almost the entire country, and by Thursday morning, especially in the eastern half. Rains will prevail, with showers, but in the center and east, and during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and in the southeast, there will be periods of sleet, sleet and snow. Water quantities will reach 10–15 l/m2, according to the ANM forecast.

The wind will intensify on Tuesday in most of the country, and on Wednesday especially in the center, east and extreme southwest. In the lowlands and in the mountains, gusts will reach 40–55 km/h, isolated 60–70 km/h, temporarily blowing snow in the mountain area and locally in Moldova and Transylvania. On Wednesday and in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the phenomena will expand locally and in Muntenia and Dobrogea.

In the mountains, especially in the Southern Carpathians and Curvature Carpathians, at altitudes above 1,500 meters, the gusts will reach 70–80 km/h, and isolated will exceed 90–100 km/h, causing strong blizzards and significant reduction of visibility.

Code Orange and Code Yellow, on intervals

Tuesday, 12:00–20:00: Orange code of severe blizzard above 1,500 m in the Southern Carpathians and locally in the Curvature Carpathians, with gusts of 80–110 km/h and visibility below 50 m.

Tuesday, 10:00–20:00: Code yellow for snow and blizzard in the Southern Carpathians, Curvature Carpathians and locally in the Western Carpathians, with winds of 60–85 km/h and snow cover of 10–15 cm.

Tuesday, 10:00–20:00: Code yellow for strong winds in Banat, Oltenia, local Transilvania and southwest Muntenia, with gusts of 50–70 km/h.

February 24, 20:00 – February 25, 10:00: Code orange of strong blizzard in the Southern Carpathians and locally in the Curvature Carpathians, above 1,500 m, with visibility below 50 m; simultaneously, Yellow Code of wind intensifications (60–85 km/h) and blizzards.

February 25, 10:00–20:00: Yellow blizzard code in the Southern Carpathians and locally in the Western and Curvature Carpathians; wind intensifications (50–70 km/h) in most of Moldova, locally in Transylvania, western and southwestern Oltenia and northern Dobrogea.

Wednesday, 10:00–20:00: Orange code of severe blizzard above 1,700 m in the Southern Carpathians and locally in the Curvature Carpathians, with gusts of 80–110 km/h and visibility below 50 m, according to the map below.
