Despite the war: Akhmetov's Metinvest invested $170.5 million in environmental projects.
The company invests in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, alternative energy, modernization of production, water purification and implementation of European control systems (MRV, CBAM, ETS, ESRS), writes NV.
Natural gas was also partially replaced by biofuel (sunflower husks) at the Northern and Central GZK in Kryvyi Rih, which reduces CO₂ emissions.
Metinvest says: “Environmental modernization is not only about compliance with EU requirements, but also about savings. Alternative energy makes it possible to reduce fuel costs, and monitoring systems to increase efficiency.”
Since the beginning of the Great War, Metinvest has already invested UAH 28 billion in the economy of Ukraine. The company is also a leader among employers for veterans and students: every third veteran who has returned to work in business works for Metinvest.
