The British politician believes that Putin does not want a peaceful settlement and Ukraine’s allies should put pressure on him
“I would say to Trump what I always tell him… we have to do this together – Europeans and Americans, together. This year is the year of putting pressure on Putin. To really show him that we are serious,” the former head of government said.
In a message to Putin, Johnson urged him to present four years of aggression in Ukraine as a victorious operation. Putin “could easily sell this to his people,” he believes.
“For God's sake, please do something to correct your reputation in history. You will go down in history as the man who started the worst war in Europe in 100 years. You have achieved nothing. Be a peacemaker. Make a deal. Get out of Ukraine, you can still do it,” Johnson outlined his hypothetical appeal to the head of the Kremlin.
