The Londoners recorded their second consecutive draw at home in the championship, this after in the previous round, Rosenior's students failed to beat another newly-promoted side, namely Leeds United (2-2), although they led 2-0.
Chelsea missed the victory in extra time with Burnley! The guests scored in the 90+3' minute
The club world champions got off to a flying start to Saturday afternoon's duel, managing to level the score after just four minutes from the opening whistle from “central” Lewis Smith.
Joao Pedro gave Chelsea the lead, finishing inside Dubravka's goal from inside the box after Portuguese Pedro Neto's pass from the left flank.
Even though they did not manage to score again later, the hosts controlled the game, leaving the impression that the match was at their discretion. However, things took a less happy turn for Rosenior's students.
In the 72nd minute, Wesley Fofana was sent off after picking up a second yellow card, and the end of the game belonged to Burnley, who felt they could use their numerical superiority to at least get a point at Stamford Bridge.
Which eventually happened. After several attacks that failed to produce results, Scott Parker's side scored the equalizer in the third extra minute of the contest, thanks to Zian Flemming, who headed home Robert Sanchez. The cross belonged to the experienced James Ward-Prowse, a player introduced on the pitch during the second act.

Following this result, the Londoners have accumulated 45 points and have risen to the 4th position in England for the moment, but if Manchester United do not lose the match against Everton, scheduled for Monday at 22:00, then Rosenior's students will drop back to 5th place.
What's more, if those from Liverpool prevail in the away game from Nottingham, they will reach equal points with Chelsea.
On the other hand, Scott Parker's team reached the milestone with number 19, but remains in the penultimate position in the ranking. The first club above the red line is Nottingham Forest, with 27 points.
In the next stage of the Premier League, Chelsea will face the leader Arsenal, at the Emirates, while Burnley will receive the visit of Brentford.
