The Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea is close to inauguration, and the Romanian Volleyball Federation and the Romanian Basketball Federation have already visited the area to discuss details related to the organization of sports events with Horia Teodorescu, the president of the County Council.
According to the official release, the Romanian Handball Federation is also expected to attend the discussions, which would also like to organize events in the new ultra-modern hall with over 4,670 seats.

“The Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea, for the attention of national sports federations
Close to the inauguration of the Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea, the president of the Tulcea County Council, Horia Teodorescu, received the visit of the representatives of the Romanian Volleyball Federation and the Romanian Basketball Federation, to discuss details regarding the organization of important sports competitions in Tulcea.
During the next week, officials of the Romanian Handball Federation would arrive in Tulcea, also to discuss the details regarding the possibility of organizing, in Tulcea, some national or even international sports competitions.
Thus, on February 12, 2026, a delegation of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, consisting of Adin Cojocaru – president, Constantin Ispas – general secretary and Gabriela Bulgariu – responsible for international relations, made an official visit to Tulcea, where they had working meetings with the president of the Tulcea County Council, Horia Teodorescu.
The visit concerned the state of works at the Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea, a major sports project for Dobrogea, but also the establishment of a collaboration protocol through which volleyball would be revitalized in the region and return to Romania's important competitive circuit.
On January 27, 2026, a delegation of the Romanian Basketball Federation formed by Carmen Tocală – president, Mariana Schmidt and Tiberiu Rist met with Tulcea County Council officials to discuss the next steps in the preparation of national and international competitions.
During the meeting, the logistical aspects were addressed, the multipurpose room and the training room being reviewed.
The Romanian Basketball Federation was also represented by Mihaela Grecu and Alexandru Grecu, representatives of the FRB Regional Branch 9.
We remind you that the institution of Tulcea County Council is the beneficiary of the investment regarding the construction of the new Multipurpose Hall, a project carried out by the National Investment Company, with funds provided by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.
The hall will benefit from a main competition field, surrounded by stands for spectators with a capacity of 4,670 seats, a training ground located in the basement of the building, under the footprint of the main field, underground parking, changing rooms for teams and officials, spaces for the press and a conference room”, the Tulcea County Council sent in an official statement.
The new Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea is a real UFO: the costs amount to 25 million euros

The Multipurpose Hall in Tulcea should be ready in April 2025. The final cost of the project was estimated at approximately 25 million euros. The money came from the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration through the National Investment Company, and the beneficiary is Tulcea County Council.
The arena will have a capacity of 4,670 seats. The hall will have a main court on which the competitions will be hosted, and below it will be a training court. The hall will benefit from underground parking, changing rooms, press areas and a conference room.
